 Joseph Ross is the author of five books of poetry: Crushed & Crowned (forthcoming, 2023), Raising King (2020), Ache (2017), Gospel of Dust (2013) and Meeting Bone Man (2012). His poems appear in many publications including, The New York Times Magazine, The Los Angeles Times, Poet Lore, Drumvoices Revue and the 2022 anthology, WHERE WE STAND: Poems of Black Resilience. He has received multiple Push-cart Prize nominations and won the 2012 Pratt Library / Little Patuxent Review Poetry Prize for his poem “If Mamie Till Was the Mother of God.” Recently, Ross served as judge for the 2021 Ken Ebert Poetry Prize from Iris G. Press. He currently serves on the Poetry Board at the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, D.C. where he teaches English and Creative Writing. Rod Carlos Rodriguez has a Master of Fine Arts degree in Creative Writing from the University of Texas at El Paso and has trained as a guest lecturer at the University of Texas at San Antonio Writing Program. He is a poet, fiction, and non-fiction writer who has been writing for over 40 years. He has 3 books of poetry published: the award-winning Exploits of a Sun Poet (Pecan Grove Press, 2003), Lucid Affairs (Sun Arts Press, 2012), and Native Instincts (Human Error Publishing, 2016). He is founder/chair of the Sun Poet’s Society, South Texas’s longest running weekly open-mic poetry reading (1995-2022). He was nominated for the San Antonio Poet Laureate in April 2012, April 2014, April 2016, and April 2018. José Sánchez - I grew up in Weslaco, TX in the 1960s. When I was 13, I began writing poetry. Later that year, I began playing guitar. Around the time that I began performing professionally, at 30, all the poems became songs. A few years later, I founded a band, I Ching Gatos, to perform my songs, which we still do to this day. My college degree from Harvard University is in Folklore and Mythology A career as an elementary teacher followed, as well as a Master’s Degree in Education from Our Lady of the Lake University. Now, I live on South Padre Island. My wife, Lucinda Wierenga (Sandy Feet) invented Sand Castle Lessons, and so I am an Sand Castle instructor. With her, I am also an inn-keeper. Gerry's published in Tokyo Poetry Journal, Buddhist Poetry Review, Gargoyle, Main Street Rag, New Delta Review, Northampton Review, New Haven Poetry Institute, Texas Review, Vonnegut Journal, Brooklyn Review, San Francisco Magazine, Monterey Poetry Review, Los Angeles Review, and New York Times as well as by Harvard, Stanford, Dartmouth, Penn, Chicago and Columbia presses. He’s authored the collections Homeless Chronicles (2010), Disputes (2012), 17s (2014), Melting the Ice King (2016). Gerry's a physician who’s built/ staffed clinics for the marginalized, Stanford professor and healthcare CEO. Currently he's devoting energy/ resources to deal with climate justice and serves on Climate Action Now’s board. Ana Fores Tamayo: Being an academic not paid enough for my trouble, I wanted instead to do something that mattered: work with asylum seekers. I advocate for marginalized refugee families from Mexico, Central America, and now, many other countries from which people are being uprooted. Working with asylum seekers is heart wrenching yet satisfying. It is also quite humbling. My labor has eased my own sense of displacement, being a child refugee, always trying to find home. In parallel, poetry is my escape: I have published in The Raving Press, Indolent Books, the Laurel Review, Shenandoah, and many other anthologies and journals, both in the US and internationally, online and in-print. My poetry in translation with its accompanying photography has been featured in art fairs and galleries as well. Peregrina, only in Spanish, was just published by Ediciones Valparaiso this June 2022.
