I want to take only a couple of minutes of your time to remind you that our book fair at Barnes & Noble begins this Friday, December 2, 2016 and goes on until December 16, 2016. During that time you will be able to purchase our book Lost: Children of the River or any other eligible item in store or online using our book fair id: 12050555. This will ensure that Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley receive up to 20% of all sales.

If you are not familiar with the Catholic Charities of the RGV or (CCRGV) I will gladly tell you about them. They are the kind and caring people who, along with the help of the other generous folks at the Sacred Heart Church in McAllen, Texas, opened the Humanitarian Crisis Relief Respite center. It is a place dedicated to assisting the undocumented families and unaccompanied minors crossing the U.S. - Mexico border which sparked major media attention in 2014 for the sheer number of minors and families coming through.

"The Humanitarian Crisis Relief was an effort which began last summer due to the influx of immigrants crossing the border who didn’t have an adequate place to rest. Catholic Charities of the Rio Grande Valley (CCRGV) with the help of the Sacred Heart Church, the City of McAllen, as well as volunteers and donations, opened its doors to the Respite center, located at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in McAllen, Texas. The center provides a place for the countless men, women, children, and infant refugees to rest, have a warm meal, a shower, and change into clean clothing as well as receive medicine and other supplies, before continuing onto their journey. As of August 2015, we have assisted over 23,000 individuals. "

We believe that art and business can be catalysts for good in our community.
